It's Going to Get Cold
29. Prompt – Power outage
Fandom – Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
Ship – Reylo, Rey/Ben Solo
Title – It’s Going to Get Cold
Ben burst through the door onto the Falcon’s flight deck, his skin tinted by the red emergency lights. “What happened?”
“We lost power,” Rey answered as calmly as possible as her hands flew across the mostly unresponsive console.
He dropped into the seat next to her and flipped a switch to shut off the alarm that summoned him. “Yeah, I figured that out on my own. Why did we lose power?”
“Best guess?”
Ben nodded. He realized she was trying to direct as much of the emergency power to life support systems as possible, and began to follow her lead.
“That temporary fix to the compressor two days ago was a lot more temporary than we hoped it would be.”
“Kriff.”
“Took the word right out of my mouth.” She leaned back with a sigh. “I sent a distress signal to base, and Finn says they should be able to get a ship out to us in the next twelve hours. If we conserve as much power as possible, we should be fine.” Rey looked at him from the corner of her eye. “It’s going to get cold.”
“I guess we have no choice but to huddle for warmth, then.”
