Summary: Fandom Christmas in July 2020 drabble: July 14 - prompt "Scavenger Hunt"

Rating: T

A/N - One of thirty-one prompts for the thirty-one days of July. I plan to fill as many of them as I can with two hundred word drabbles.

What’s that? Something about someone dying at the end of “The Rise of Skywalker”? No clue what you’re talking about. Anyway, here’s “Wonderwall”.

The Sacred Texts
14. Prompt – Scavenger hunt
Fandom – Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
Ship – Reylo, Rey/Kylo Ren-Ben Solo
Title – The Sacred Texts

“How do we know it even exists?” Ben grumbled.

Rey pointed toward the large book sitting open on the Falcon’s dejarik table, her mouth still full of jogan fruit.

“Right, the Sacred Texts. Because everything described in one of those musty old books has to be real, and the text will tell us exactly where to find it.”

Rey swallowed and shook her head. “Don’t be silly. That would be too easy. A Jedi always chooses to be cryptic and ‘wise’.”

They shared a grin at that.

“It’ll be a scavenger hunt. The book gives us the first clue, and then we’ll have to follow the trail, and eventually we’ll find the manuscript. Or we won’t.” She shrugged.

Ben took a deep breath and decided to switch tactics. “Why are we the ones being sent on this ‘mission’ instead of literally anyone else?”

“Because I’m the one with the book; and because no one else wanted to be partnered with you while I’m digging through the snow.” Rey scrunched her nose and smirked.

“And you?” Ben asked as he moved closer to her. “Do you want to be partnered with me?”

She reached for him. “I’m not opposed to it.”
