“You tell her or I will.”
“Sherlock.” Mary glanced toward the door behind her. “You really don’t want to do this.”
As if summoned, Molly stepped out of her bedroom, dragging a suitcase. “Don’t want to do what?”
“Nothing important, Sherlock was just—”
“David is only dating you to get close to Mary,” Sherlock quickly spit out.
“Excuse me?” Molly looked toward Mary, who just shook her head. “Didn’t you tell him?”
“I didn’t get a chance,” Mary huffed. “We’re going to a wedding this weekend and David’s date backed out. He told me he couldn’t go alone because he didn’t want to risk going over his allotted ‘social encounters’ for the year.” Mary narrowed her eyes. “Which is something we need to discuss, Sherlock.”
“Don’t lose focus, we’re talking about Molly,” he quickly deflected.
“David didn’t ask me to out. Mary did.”
“She what?” He frowned. “Then why would you agree to go?”
“It’s a no strings attached Christmas weekend in the country, snow and sleigh rides, free food and an open bar.”
“So, he didn’t…”
Molly shook her head. “No.”
“And you aren’t…” Sherlock continued to clarify.
“Nope.”
“I should probably leave then.”
Both women nodded. “Oh, yeah.”
