Summary: Fandom Christmas in July 2020 drabble: July 8 - prompt "Wish fulfillment"

Rating: T

A/N - One of thirty-one prompts for the thirty-one days of July. I plan to fill as many of them as I can with two hundred word drabbles.

I’m going to be honest; this is a 200 word drabble and I’m not going to do actual research on how the technical stuff works. It’s just meant to be cute. Go with it.

A Pretty Princess
8. Prompt – Wish fulfillment
Fandom – Sherlock
Ship – Gen, Rosie Watson & Mycroft Holmes
Title – A Pretty Princess

Mycroft stared at the child. He knew he should have been the absolute last choice in childcare for Rosamund Watson, yet the girl had been left in his care.

More than that, she had just informed him that she had specifically requested him.

He seriously considered calling Anthea to deal with the eight-year-old; but, Sherlock had threatened to tell Mummy at Christmas if he dared to let Rosamund out of his sight.

With a put-upon sigh, Mycroft invited the faery-wing clad girl to take the seat in front of the desk in his office.

By all accounts, she was an exceptionally bright child.

They studied each other with equally calculating expressions.

“Tell me, Rosamund, what will it require to ensure I’m never asked to do this again?”

“I’m want to be a princess,” she replied with all seriousness.

“I’m afraid that’s not possible.” Mycroft tapped his finger against his lip. “However, I may be able to arrange something a little less… grandiose, if you are willing to negotiate.”

Two days later he received a call from John Watson.

“Tell me why someone just delivered legal documents addressed to the Guardian of Rosamund Watson, Ladyship of the Manor of Whaplode Abbots?”
